No ShutterCount maker-note table exists for this model in ExifTool (the library this tool relies on). Verified directly by inspecting ExifTool's Canon.pm source and testing real sample files.
Canon EOS 5D Mark IV
No ShutterCount maker-note table exists for this model in ExifTool. Verified directly against a real sample file with the latest available ExifTool version — no shutter count field is present.
Canon EOS 6D Mark II
No ShutterCount maker-note table exists for this model in ExifTool.
Canon EOS 5D
This camera's firmware (2005) predates Canon writing shutter count to EXIF at all. No software can recover data the camera never recorded.
Canon EOS 6D
ExifTool does have shutter-count support for this model, but it is still appearing in our failure logs on original camera files. Likely an outdated ExifTool version on our server — we are actively working on this.
Canon EOS 80D
ExifTool has shutter-count support for this model; failures are likely due to a stale ExifTool version on our server. Fix in progress.
Canon EOS R6m2
Support for this model was added to ExifTool via a 2023 community fix; our server may be running an older version. Fix in progress.

Does this work for all Canon cameras?

Why does my Canon show "Shutter Count Not Found"?
Either the file was edited or re-exported before upload, which strips the camera's hidden maker notes, or your model does not write the count into its photos in a form any tool can read. Use an original file straight from the card first; if it still fails, check the model guides on this page.
Is there free Canon shutter count software?
This checker is free and needs no install. Desktop programs also exist that read the count from the camera body over USB instead of from a photo; which cameras they support varies, so check a program's supported-camera list before relying on it.
How many shutter actuations is a Canon rated for?
It depends on the tier. Commonly cited ratings are about 100,000 for bodies such as the EOS 6D, 80D and RP, 150,000 for the 5D Mark III and 5D Mark IV, and 200,000 for the 7D Mark II and EOS R. These are durability estimates, not hard limits.
